Conference promoting Pedro Calungsod slated in Cebu

CEBU City, July 19, 2012—A conference that seeks to promote more awareness and to spread far and wide the legacy of soon to be second Filipino saint, Blessed Pedro Calungsod, will be held on August 30 at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu.

Dubbed as “Youth and the path to Greatness (A Conference on True Love and Chastity: A Legacy of Blessed Pedro Calungsod),” the conference will focus on current issues delving on Chastity and Modesty as well as practical ways to help the youth, educators and parents counter the negative trend on sexuality and sex education.

“As the date of the Canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod draws near, it is urgent that everyone is spiritually prepared for the event,” said Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma in his letter of invitation.

Main speakers for the conference are international personalities like Ms. Leah Darrow who is associated with America’s Next Top Model, a reality-TV show in the US and Mr. Chris Stefanick, the director of Youth and Campus Ministry of the Archdiocese of Denver.

Stefanick has been a guest on some programs of EWTN and has written books, one of which is ‘Raising Pure Teens,’ co-authored by Jason Evert. Both Stefanick and Evert are experts on topics like Chastity and Modesty.

Target audience for the conference are the youth, high school, college and students, parents, teachers, educators, formators and young professionals.

The event is organized by the Archdiocese of Cebu and the Archdiocesan Shrine of Blessed Pedro Calungsod together with the Global Corporate Solutions Inc.
