MANILA, July 7, 2012—Organizers in charge of the promotion of Pedro Calungsod’s canonization this coming October 21 have already released the dates of the liturgical celebrations slated before and after the canonization.
A Triduum of Masses will be celebrated from October 18 to 20 at the Basilica of St. Agustine, Piazza di Sant’Agostino 80 at 4 pm; Church of Gesu, Via degli Astalli 16 also at 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon; and Basilica of St. Mary Major, Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore at 10 am, all located in Rome.
A Vigil and Penitential Service is set on October 20 from 8:30 to 10 pm at the Chiesa di Santa Pudenziana Via Urbana 160.
The canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod together with six others is set on October 21, Sunday morning, at St. Peter’s Square in Rome. Vespers together with a Procession of the 2nd Filipino saint’s icon will be brought around the vicinity of Chiesa di Santa Pudenziana in the evening.
A thanksgiving mass will be celebrated on October 22, the day after the canonization at 8:00 o’clock in the morning, at the apse of St. Peter’s Basilica. (Jandel Posion)
